The federal government has approved the establishment of a mobile police barracks in the premises of the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing newsmen as part of activities for the combined 5th and 6th convocation of the institution.

According to Hamisu-Bichi, the establishment of the barrack will enhance the safety of the students, the staff and the host community.

He further explained that the establishment of the police base in the university would assist in tackling security challenges in the area.

“And of recent, we had gone to the office of the National Security Adviser to President Muhammad Buhari, Rtd Gen. Babagana Mongunu and asked for help.

“And he assured us and approved that a mobile police barrack should be constructed inside the campus.

“I assure you very soon construction work will start and a mobile police barrack will be in the institution’s main campus to complement the effort of the already existing security personnel in the school.

“With the help of God we have never witnessed any issue of insecurity in any of the school campuses, all our students live peacefully.

“What we have been doing is that we keep on praying to God to protect our students, protect us and protect everybody.

“And in the main campus, we had a wall around the school, and right now we are constructing a ditch around the school.

“I assured you we have adequate security in the campuses, from the military, the police, the vigilante and other personnels.” Hamisu-Bichi Said.
