Zamfara state government has announced suspension of all activities of Zamfara Road Transport Agency, ZAROTA for poor conduct of officials and personnel of the agency.
In a statement signed and made available to journalist in Gusau by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs of the State, Alh. Yakubu Sani Haida said, the suspension followed frequent complaints by the members of the public regarding the conduct of ZAROTA officials and personnel.
He explained that, the state governor Bello Matawalle has directed the suspension of all activities of the agency in the state, saying the agency’s activities would be overseen by a joint task force of Police, VIO, Federal Road Safety Corps and Civil Defence Corps.
The Statement revealed that, the state government has set up a committee to review the conduct of the ZAROTA officials and urged people of the state to be law-abiding and conduct themselves in accordance with the law.
Our Reporter in Gusau reports that, Trucks Drivers has earlier today blocked entrance and exit of the state capital along Gusau-Zaria Road to demonstrate against alleged extortion by the ZAROTA personnel.
