The Kano state Government has reaffirmed it’s determination in ensuring that all Women receives the necessary care they need to be safe and healthy throughout pregnancy and Childbirth.
The state Commissioner For Health Dr Aminu Ibrahim tsanyawa stated this while briefing Journalist during the National Safe Motherhood Day Celebrations held in Kano.
He said Kano state Government has placed high priority on saving lives of women ND Children through strengthening Health care system at all levels ,both primary , secondary and tertiary Facilities .
“Kano state Government provides free Maternal and Child Health Services aimed at preventing Maternal and Child Death in the State”
Dr Aminu Ibrahim tsanyawa explained that under the policy pregnant women were being Provide with free health care services from conception through delivery,to post Natal care services.
He noted that in an effort to ensure adequate improvement of the health sector Kano state Government was earmarking five percent of the internally Generated revenue and local Governments Statutory Allocations Monthly to the Health sector.
The Commissioner maintained that 1,130 female Community Volunteers,And 220 Community Engagement Focal persons have been Trained to Promote Maternal and Child Health in Community levels .
“The state Government supplied over 7000 Branded new wrappers for distribution to pregnant Women Who Attended ANC and deliver in the hospital geared towards encouraging hospital delivery”
Dr Aminu Ibrahim tsanyawa added that Government had spent Over 200 million Naira in the renovation of 88 facilities to provide Comprehensive services including Skilled birth Attendence,Child Birth Spacing ,Prevention of maternal to Child Transmission of HIV, integrated Management of Childhood illness Among others.
