The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone A, has cautioned officials of Kano State government against interfering with student politics.
Ziya’u Sarki, NANS Zonal Deputy Coordinator, gave the caution at news briefing in Kano on Wednesday.
He expressed concerns that some officials of the state government were interfering with the internal politics of the National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS).
Sarki said that the Yahay Usman-Kabo-led leadership of NAKSS was validly elected and inaugurated, saying, “ we need to give them the needed support”
“They were legitimately voted for by majority of members of the union, they fulfilled the constitutional requirements and were sworn-in,” he said.
He said that NANS was hugely disturbed by the `unwarranted attacks on the just constituted leadership of NAKSS by some officials of the state government.
“NANS is solidly in support of the current leadership, the call for its removal is a negation of all known tenets and principles of democracy,” he said.
