Kano State Government is committed to ensure full implementation of People with Disability Law.
This was reiterated by the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Cabinet Office, Alhaji Musa Yahaya Bichi at the 2 days workshop for stakeholders to Review Persons with Disability (PWD) Proposed Bill Amendment ongoing at Haitel Guest Inn in Dutse.
According to the PS, the meeting which is a continuation of the last meeting in February aims at Amending the Law and accelerate it’s implementation which will be mandated to manage the affairs of People with Disabilities across the State.
Alhaji Yahaya Bichi said the meeting is timely in order to exchange ideas, provide current situation and critical inputs into the appraisal and subsequent amendment further commended partners for their support called on them to be attentive in order to achieve set objectives.
In her welcome address, the Program Manager Child Development Grant Program (CDGP), Stella Esedunme who was represented by the Advocacy Officer, Richard Musa who welcomed participants to the workshop said, the meeting is to bring critical stakeholders together in order to amend and make inputs into the Law to make it all encompassing wished participant fruitful deliberations.
Presentations were made including updates of the Committees activities by Director Partners, SSGs Office, Alhaji Rabiu Abdullahi and Overview of the Provision of the Original Law by National Women Leader JONAPWD, Hajiya Ravi Yusuf.
Representatives from different relevant MDA’s in the State were present at the meeting.
