A former commissioner of commerce in Kano and incumbent managing Director of Dala inland Dry port says Kano state government has disburse the sum of over two billion Naira for provision of some infrastructure for the take off of operations at the Dry inland port kumbotso Kano.
Ahmad Rabiu stated this when he lead member of the press on an inspection tour at the ongoing construction of structures at the premises of the Dry inland port Kano.
He said among the infrastructure to be provided by the state Government includes Access road to the port, perimeter fence,water and electricity.
The Managing Director explained that the inland Dry port wa approved by federal government and was concessioned to Dala Inland Dry port.
Ahmad Rabiu said for over ten years the project was in a coma, untill this time when the present Administration in Kano approved and disburse the sum of two point there billion Naira for provision of infrastructure on the Land.
“This gigantic economic project when completed would provide thousands of job Apportunities to our teeming youths in Kano”
“With revolution of the rail road in Nigeria containers would reach out inland Dry port in Kano from sea port Lagos in less than 12 hours and at the cost of less than two hundred thousand naira,making the owner of the cargo to save the sum of a million Naira”.
“Just last week we received in our partnership a company who have batches that deliver containers from the ship through their Ijora terminal in Lagos,so cargo that comes through them would be transferred the terminal within few hours and would be loaded on the train to kano”
He noted that benefits of the Dry inland port in Kano includes promotion of export,saying there are alot of export materials in the north but the people lack the techniques of exporting them out of the country.
The Managing Director applauded the foresight of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for investing in the sector ,adding that the project would yielded positive results soon.
