Security agencies in collaboration with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, have secured the release of 45 kidnap victims in Katsina State in the last one week.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari disclosed this shortly after he interviewed the rescued persons at the Government House in Katsina.
He explained that thirty-seven indigenes of Zamfara State were rescued last week and handed over to the Zamfara State government while nine others who are citizens of Niger Republic were rescued on Sunday.
He said the nine Nigeriens who were abducted from Bima village in Maradi State were handed over to the Nigerien government after due examinations by a medical team in Katsina.
The governor pointed out that no ransom was paid to the bandits to secure the release of the abducted persons.
Alhaji Aminu Masari however regretted that there were still dozens of kidnap victims in the custody of their abductors, as security agents were trying their best to rescue them soonest.
