The executive chairman of Kano state universal Basic Education Board Dr Danlami Hayyo says the new method of Reading and Numeracy activity RANA has improved learning in Hausa literacy among pupils of primary schools .
Dr Danlami Hayyo stated this while addressing participants at a five day training for master trainers on Reading and Numeracy activity RANA upper grade for primary 4-6 funded and organized by Global participants for Education project through the state ministry of education project ,in collaboration with SUBEB ,taking place at sleeprite Hotel,zaria, kaduna state.
Hayyo who was represented by the boards secretary,Alhaji Baffa Saleh, said the new RANA methodology which uses mother tongue as a medium of communication has yielded positive results by improving learning outcomes in literacy and Numeracy,saying RANA teaching Approach also Adopts jokes and fun to attract learner’s attention during lessons.
In his remark,the state project coordinator Global Partnership for Education/Nigerian partnership for Education project malam Abdulsshakur Abba Nuhu said the training was aimed at training master trainers on RANA for grade primary 4-6 who would step down the training to primary school teachers at local government levels.
He noted that the participants were drawned from tertiary institutions , ministry of education and SUBEB.
malam Abdulsshakur said the world Bank project has carryout various educationa,supportive activities to include provision of grants to pre-primary /Primary schools, capacity building for teachers among others.
