The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Kano Field Office Staff Association has on Friday donated food items and other essential items to Nasarawa Children’s home in Kano.
Presenting the items to the management of the home, the Chairperson of the association, Saka Adebayo said the gesture was their effort to celebrate the World Children’s Day (WCD).
The event is being celebrated on November 20, every year.
According to him, the gesture was necessary for them because they are part of an organization that supports and promotes the rights of the children.
“We at the UNICEF, Kano field Office, we tasked ourselves to contribute from our pocket for the purpose of this donation we are giving today.” He said.
While commending his colleagues for the contribution to purchase the items, Adebayo also commended the home management for accepting their gesture.
In her response, the in charge of the children’s home, Hajiya Aisha Sani commended the association for the gesture.
She assured the association that items would be properly used for its purpose, saying the children will also appreciate the gesture.
Some of the items donated including rice, beans, vegetables, detergents, juice and also sanitary items.
