A Coalition of Youth under the aegis of Kano North Senatorial Youths for Good Governance, has described a petition against the Kano State Commissioner for Local Governments, Murtala Garo as plan to dent the political image of Presided Muhammad Buhari and that of Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje.
The group was responding in a statement to a petition alledged to be sponsored by some politicians to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the Commissioner for financial misappropriation.
The statement was signed and issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Kano by the Coalition’s Chairman, Wada Fulatan.
According to the group, the attempt by the politicians was due to the Garo’s efforts in ensuring the victory of the APC at both local, state as well as the Federal Governments levels since 2015.
“Garo, who is known as ‘Commander’ for his emancipation of women and youths, is a grassroot politician who built his political career on loyalty, accountability, honesty and commitment to the party victory despite all odds
“The Commissioner is paying the price for standing on the side of truth and refusal to compromise his hard earned political reputation which some desperate politicians within Kano APC in collaboration with the opposition party have sworn to drag to the mud to achieve their selfish political interest in the state, come 2023.
“We are aware of the move by the Kano state APC Abuja based politicians who bent at using political intrigues to sabotage the current efforts of Gov. Ganduje in building a greater Kano through infrastructural development and instituting a decent political climate which eluded the state for a long time,” the group said.
He added that, “such selfish politicians in collaboration with the opposition were also targeting President Muhammadu Buhari, considering the fact that Kano State is the President”s political base, hence the decision to start the execution of their hidden agenda from Kano.
Fulatan however noted that this is not the first time such selfish Abuja based politicians were making desperate move to sabotage Gov. Ganduje.
“Their first time attempt was the immediate past chairman of Municipal Local Government Council and present Commissioner for Special Duties, Muntari Ishaq who was later cleared by the EFCC from all the alleged financial misappropriation levelled against him.
“Why are Governor Ganduje’s commissioners the target for these desperate politicians?”, the group queried.
The group recalled with pride the contributions Garo gave in securing victory for both Ganduje and President Buhari during the 2015 and 2019 general elections when he was the APC Campaign Coordinator in Kano.
While the Coalition expressed its total support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption which Ganduje also emulated by empowering the Kano State Anti-graft Agency to investigate corruption chargesm
According to him, the group will not fold its arms to see a reputable, committed, loyal and the face of hope for women and youths like Sule Garo become a victim of desperate politicians.
“The Commissioner was never found wanting in resources management as chairman of Kabo local government, Kano state ALGON Chairman and subsequent positions held, then why now?” the group asked.
The group, therefore, called on Ganduje and APC elders in the state to intervene so as to save women and youths of Kano North from the intrigues of desperate politicians.
They, however, warned that failure to broker peace, the group would have no option than to mobilise its members to embark on peaceful protest against such desperate politicians.
“Should peaceful resolution fails, we would have no option than to make public the names of such desperate politicians who are bent on sabotaging the government’s efforts and deprived the people of the state the dividend of democracy from Federal and State Governments”, he said.
