Kano state government and TCI extends Family planning high impact initiative to additional 8 urban LGA’s


Adequate enlightenment of the general public on how to access family planning contraceptives through trained healthcare workers and social mobilizers has been described as one of the major tool of reducing the high increase of maternal mortality.

The coordinator of the challenge initiative (TCI), Musa Abdullahi Sufi stated that Performance Improvement assesment (PIA) Tool and performance improvement plan(PIP) orientation for LGA Monitoring and Evaluation officers and MNCH Coordintor in eight new TCI urban demonstration LGAs in this bride year is key. The training was organized by for the facility assessment to help better planning for the implementation of sustainable high impact proof of concepts initiatives.


He said LGA health team and social mobilizers have a also a greater role in pushing the campaign on family planning forward, especially through the aid of religious,and community leaders targeted at achieving the set objectives. However, highlighted also that trained healthcare providers, equipped health facility is very vital to sustain increase access.

Sufi charged the participants to utilize the new skills and experience they acquired during the training in ensuring collecting the right data for informed decision at the faciiity and LGAs.

In a remark,the director family health Kano state primary Health care Dr Aminu sudawa From State Primary Heath Care Management Board (SPHCMB) said the workshop was geared towards Acquainting the participants the set targets for the objectives to be achieved.

“Our partners TCI have increase eight local government areas out of the urban local governments with aim of enlightening the general populace on how to access family planning commodities,and also to ensure that qualified personnel attends to clients in our localities”

He also added that, the board always welcome great ideas like the ones coming from TCI for making high impact in an unusual way.

The PIA/PIP trained participants were from,Dawakin Tofa, Bichi,Rano,Gwarzo,Wudil,Minjibir,Gaya and Karaye local government areas.o
