The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has appealed to the people of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States to assist it in tackling the rampant cases of electrical installation and transformer-oil theft.
This was contained in media statement signed by the head corporate communications of Kedco, Ibrahim sani shawai, and was made available to Kano Daily.
According to the Management, this is on the rise as some unfriendly members of the public have taken advantage of the rainy season to perpetuate their heinous acts and this is causing serious economic loss to us as a company.
Though the installations and distribution network facilities belong to KEDCO but since these installations and other facilities are used to render services to our numerous customers, the public has a major stake in the equipment and also has the responsibility to protect these installations.
So, we appeal to the members of the public to own up these installations by reporting any suspicious and suspected movement, theft and other related issues around KEDCO installations to security agencies or nearest KEDCO’s offices.
We also call on our numerous customers to remain vigilant and observant with the issue of electrical installations even in their homes to prevent avoidable accidents relating to electrical faults which usually occur during rainy season
