The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Information National Orientation Ethics and Value, Mr Olusegun Odebunmi has distributed relief materials from the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA to victims affected by rainstorm in various communities within his constituency.
This according to him was part of efforts towards ameliorating the sufferings of the households in Surulere/Ogo-oluwa federal constituency of Oyo state affected by heavy downpour last month.
Mr Odebunmi said that the rain wreaked havoc in about 10 communities leaving over 300 properties damaged.
The lawmaker, who is the chairman House Committee on Information, National Orientation Ethics and Values, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly and also DG NEMA for coming to their aid in ensuring that the materials are delivered and distributed on time at the critical period.
Zonal coordinator NEMA southwest, Mr Lugard Bijimi, who represented the Director General of NEMA explained that part of what was discovered during the inspection was that buildings were affected because of non-availability of trees which should serve as wind breakers in the surrounding.
