Jigawa state government says it has distributed improved Brazil rice seeds to fifty farmers for cultivation on eighty hectares of land this farming season.

The Special Adviser to Governor Badaru Abubakar on Rice production Alhaji Jamilu Dan`Malam stated this when he led a delegation of agricultural stakeholders to assess the progress of rice farming at some Fadama sites in Dutse, Hadejia and Kazaure local government areas.

Alhaji Jamilu Dan`malam advised the beneficiaries to make sure that they return the seeds so that other farmers will benefit.

Also speaking, the Acting Managing Director of Jigawa Agricultural and Rural Developmnet Authority JARDA, Alhaji Bashir Mu`azu Majiya called on farmers to always contact extension workers in their areas to boost production.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the authority to support farmers in the state to improve their production.
