Reports indicate that many public schools, residential buildings , telecommunication mast, electric poles as well as channels TV mast were affected by the rain
Also affected during the thunderstorm was the distribution network of the Kano electricity distribution network of the kano electricity distribution company (KEDCO) which resulted in power outage in Kano state
Ina a statement signed by the spokesman of KEDCO Ibrahim Sani Shawai and made available to radio Nigeria in Kano.
He pointed out that some communities in Kano and katsina will experience power outage due to the damage done.
Shawai said ” our technicians have been mobilized to the field and are currently working to ensure that the situation does not prolong beyond necessary
On it’s part the Kano state government has constipated a 19 member committee to assess the number of public schools affected and the extent of damage.
The committee is chaired by the executive chairman of the Kano state universal Basic Education board. The committee will submit it’s report within six weeks
The Kano state commissioner for education then appealed to the general public and relevant stakeholders to assist the government in ensuring that properties within the public schools were not vandalized.
