The Anambra State government has announced the shut down of Eke Awka Market with effect from the fifteenth of june for non compliance to Covid- 19 protocols.
According to a release from the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, the traders and customers were not complying with the pandemic protocols including wearing of protective face masks, provision of running water for washing of hands and keeping physical distancing.
It also says that from monday the fifteenth of this month, Curfew in Awka South local government area will be 8pm to 6am daily until further notice.
The release adds that government is putting other market leaders and local government areas on notice that a similar step will be taken if it is observed that such markets do not observe Covid-19 protocols.
