Protesters in Yantumaki town in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State have flooded the streets in protest of recent banditry attacks in the town.

They blocked the Katsina-Kankara road which passes through the town, as they chanted protest songs and burnt tyres on the streets.

Some of the protesters said they were registering their grievance over the abduction of a resident, Mansur Yusuf and his daughter from their house by armed bandits.

They narrated that the bandits stormed the town in their dozens on motorcycles wielding dangerous weapons as they abducted the two residents and rode into the forest.

The protesters also cited the recent murder of the District Head of Yantumaki, Alhaji Abu Atiku, when a gang of armed bandits attacked him in his house.

The protesters, mostly youths, said the spate of killings and kidnappings in the area were on the increase, and urged security agencies to take urgent measures to bring an end to the menace.
