Unions at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia in Nasarawa State have embarked on a one week warning strike over  non implementation of the COVID-19 Hazard Allowances.

Addressing newsmen at end of an emergency joint meeting  in Lafia, spokespersons for the six unions in the hospital, Mr Alidzi Maga and Dr. Peter  Idoko said the warning strike followed expiration of a seven day ultimatum issued the state government to meet their demands.

Chairman Association of Resident Doctors Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia Branch Dr. Peter Idoko said due to inadequate Personal Personal Protective Equipment twenty one health workers including six medical doctors have been tested positive to COVID 19.

He also mentioned non promotion and issuarance for health workers as some their demands.

At the time of filing this report, the health Workers were seen going round all the departments at the hospital to drive away their members ensure full compliance with the the strike.

Commissioner for Health Mr. Ahmed Yahaya said the state government had offered to implement 40 percent of the Covid 19 Hazard Allowance.

He sppealed to the workers to return to work for the interest of humanity.
