The Late Murtala Muhammad foundation has distributed food items to 280 widows and their children across seven Local Government Areas of Kano.
Presenting the items to the District Head of Fagge, Alhaji Muhammad Ado-Bayero, the National leader of the foundation, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad said the gesture was necessary for them.
Represented by Malam Sule, Aisha, who is the first child of late Murtala Muhammad said the gesture was to support the Federal and State government towards alleviating the suffering of the people due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
According to her, the benefiting Local Government Areas include Fagge, Nasarawa, Tarauni, Municipal, Kumbotso, Dala and Gwale, where 40 widows from each will benefit.
She added that despite the donation is not much, she called on the beneficiaries whom their husbands died and left them with children to make proper use of it.
The foundatio’s leader also called on them to always follow the COVID-19 preventive measures as announced by the medical experts so as to avoid the spread of the pandemic in the societies.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the District Head of Fagge, who is also the Tafidan Kano, represented by Malam Maikudi Shitu, commended the foundation for the donation.
He added that the gesture came at a time when the people are facing challenges caused by the stay at home order occasioned by the pandemic.
According Ado-Bayero, the gesture was first of its kind through his office, apart from that of the Federal and State governments palliative which the distribution is still going on.
The District Head assured the foundation that the food items, which include Rice, Spaghetti and Indomie would be distributed judiciously.
He further appealed to them to always follow the government order which were aimed at ensuring the public’s safety.
