The Chairman Senate committee on Army, Senator Mohammed Ndume has reiterated the call for adequate funding and equipping the Nigerian Army to effectively tackle myriad of challenges facing the country.

Senator Ndume made the call at media briefing in Maiduguri.

He noted that the military is now more determined to fight emerging security challenges, however constrained by modern hardware and other logistics to prosecute the war on insurgency, banditry and other criminal activities.

Senator Mohammed Ndume described the relocation of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai to the north east as a game changer and morale booster to troops in the frontline.

On relocation of some communities in Gwoza local government, the Senator called on Army to send troops to Kirawa, Ashigashiya and Ngoshe to enable the people return to their communities as the state government has already commenced reconstruction of destroyed houses.

He appreciated Governor Babagana Zulum for visiting the ravaged communities saying he is the first governor to visit the towns since 2014.
