Federal Government has flagged off the distribution of farm inputs as palliatives to the 2018 flood victims in Jigawa state.
The Minister of Humanitarian affairs disaster Management and Social development Hajiya Sadiya Umar who presented the fertilizer to the state says the palliatives are farm inputs that includes seeds, agrochemicals, sprayers and fertilizers.
She said the state is one of the major food producers in the country.
She explained that the fertilizer distribution was the final phase of input distribution to the affected farmers.
The minister added that the gesture was aimed at assisting the beneficiaries recover from losses suffered as a result of the flooding.
In his remarks,Governor Badaru Abubakar commended the federal government for the gesture, pointing out that it would enable the beneficiaries return to their farms.
Also speaking,the state Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria AFAN Alhaji Idris Mai unguwa Jaga said the intervention would go a long way in boosting agricultural production and food security in the state and the the country in general.
