Kano State Government has set up a committee to interface with Coalition of labour unions in the state over a 14-day ultimatum to the state government to refund what they described as “illegal deduction” from their May 2020 salaries.
Kano State Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir announced the establishment of the committee on a Freedom Radio program, monitored by Kano Daily .
Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir said the ultimatum was issued to the state government on Wednesday and on Friday, the state government had a meeting with the unions and the committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji.
We are already in discussion with the government committee as we had a meeting on Friday with the leadership of the committee, Alhaji Usman Alhaji with some Commissioners as members also,’’ said Minjibir.
Although labour had insisted that failure of the government to return the deduction before the end of its ultimatum, which begins on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, workers would embark on seven days warning strike from Monday, June 15.
