Borno state High Powered Response Team on COVID-19 has warned private hospitals and laboratories in the state to refrain from conducting covid-19 test or consulting Coronavirus patients. 

Secretary of the Committee and Commissioner of Health Dr Salihu Kwayabura gave the warning at a media briefing in Maiduguri. 

Dr Kwayabura maintained that no private laboratory or hospital in the state has the capacity to carry out Covid-19 test, warning such facilities to desist or be summarily sanctioned. 

The Commissioner also announced that the state government would soon activate two isolation and treatment centres that have six hundred bed capacity following the growing number of Coronavirus cases.

According to him, the two centres are the newly proposed NYSC orientation camp along Baga road which has five hundred bed capacity and the hundred bed Biu isolation centre that will serve patients from southern part of the state.

Dr Salihu Kwayabura said the state government has distributed over seven thousand N95 face masks and over twenty thousand hand gloves and other personal protective equipment to health facilities in the state to minimize the risk of health workers from contracting the virus. 

Kano Daily reports that Borno state has so far discharged eighteen patients from the state and University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital isolation centres and recorded twenty one fatalities.
