Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje says that Facemasks in Kano are now Compulsory and anybody who refuses to wear them might go to Jail.

To this end, the Governor has directed Security Agencies to enforce the wearing of the facemasks across the City.

Ganduje gave the directives during a media parley session to update journalists on the Coronavirus pandemic situation in the state.

He lamented that some residents have continued to violate the social distancing order, lamenting the laxity of security agents in the enforcement of compliance among residents.

Ganduje added that serial meetings have been held with security chiefs in the state to fashion out how they could act tougher to ensure that people wear face masks and observe social distancing.

Ganduje said, “there is no way the government would henceforth fall down its hands and allow Peoples breaking and violating the protocols of the Coronavirus in the State.”

In the same vein, governor Ganduje lamented the politicization of the evacuation of the Almajiris to their hometowns by some Governors.

He said the decision to send back Almajiris to their states of origin was a unanimous Northern Governors agreement and all States are sending back the Almajiris not only Kano.

Ganduje said, “all States are sending Almajiris back to their states of origin, some of who are positive to the COVID 19, and in our case we simply accept those that are tested positive and simply take them to Isolation Centers without any noise.

“Must people do politicise the Almajiris issues whereas everybody does send positive ones and is not the case of the evacuation that they get been positive about, it might be from where they are picked”.
